Classroom Scheduling Steps
Fall, Spring, and Summer
Fall and Spring
Courses belonging to the schedule types, LEC, SEM, WEH, and WLH and not tied to a lab
Large General Classrooms are scheduled as the first step and by request of the Associate Deans to ensure large spaces are available to all departments.
Priority/Partition Assignments are made by the departments within classrooms in departmental partitions.
Pre-Assignment Requests are submitted by departments to the Associate Deans for consideration for classroom space that provides course-required classroom features necessary to meet the pedagogical needs of the course and are located outside of the departmental partition.
Technology Assisted Scheduling using the tool, the Optimizer, offers a resource to help identify space for courses without a classroom after the priority/partition assignment and pre-assignment phases are complete. Classroom Schedulers are to check results from the Optimizer. Courses not placed or impossible to place will need to be examined for possible meeting pattern changes or other adjustments.
The Classroom Change Request form offers departments a tool to communicate needed room changes to the Registrar’s Office for LEC, SEM, WEH, and WLH courses not tied to a lab; room change requests may be made after the schedule build process and all phases of classroom assigning have been completed; the Classroom Change Request form can be found on the CBAS Welcome page.
Review, Update and Correct Scheduling Work checking for omissions in building and room assignments by accessing department Course Term File, CTF, regularly, and looking for potential double bookings of rooms by running the Potentially Double-Booked Room Report in AppAnalytics.
