Withdrawing from a Course
- Individual course withdrawals are submitted through the Self-Service Registration feature and must be completed by the published deadline.
- Undergraduate students can only withdraw from up to 16 credit hours for all terms, excluding summer sessions.
Withdrawing from the Current Term
- It is essential to speak with your advisor before withdrawing from all classes.
- During the official withdrawal period by the published deadline, complete the appropriate withdrawal form:
- Boone and Hickory Campus and App State Online students: Withdraw From Current Term Form for Boone Campus, Hickory Campus and/or App State Online
- Flight Path students: Withdraw from Current Term for Flight Path
- Boone and Hickory Campus and App State Online students: Withdraw From Current Term Form for Boone Campus, Hickory Campus and/or App State Online
- Requests are reviewed by a university official and then processed by the Registrar's Office once confirmed.
- Review the readmission policy that may be required upon returning.
Withdrawing from a Future Term
- During the official withdrawal period by the published deadline, complete the appropriate withdrawal form:
- Boone and Hickory Campus and App State Online students: Withdraw From Future Term Form for Boone Campus, Hickory Campus and/or App State Online
- Flight Path students: WIthdraw from Future Term for Flight Path
- Boone and Hickory Campus and App State Online students: Withdraw From Future Term Form for Boone Campus, Hickory Campus and/or App State Online
- Review the readmission policy that may be required upon returning.
Late or Retroactive Withdrawal
- Complete Withdrawal from the Current Term After the Deadline or From a Prior Term:
Review the policy for Late or Retroactive Withdrawal due to extenuating circumstances if you miss the official withdrawal period. - Partial or Single Course Withdrawal after the Deadline for Non-Medical Reasons:
Extenuating, late or retroactive course withdrawals, which are not medical in nature, require approval from the appropriate campus office utilizing the Request for Course Withdrawal Policy Exception form. - Partial or Single Course Withdrawal after the Deadline for Medical Reasons:
Late or retroactive course withdrawals, which are Medical in nature, are reviewed and approved by the Office of Health Services.
