Withdrawing from a Course
- Individual course withdrawals are submitted through the Self-Service Registration feature and must be completed by the published deadline.
- Undergraduate students can only withdraw from up to 16 credit hours for all terms, excluding summer sessions.
Withdrawing from Current and Future Terms
The Withdraw from Current/Future Terms form is used for all full term withdrawals that are completed by the deadlines published in the Academic Calendar. Use this form for these scenarios:
- Withdraw from the Current Term
- Highly advised that you meet with your academic advisor before withdrawing from a current term.
- If a Financial Aid recipient, it is highly advised that you meet with a representative.
- Extenuating circumstances are not required.
- Utilized for all reasons, both medical or non-medical.
- Generates pro-rated refund based on Student Accounts refund schedules.
- University Official will reach out before withdrawal is processed.
- Form is accessible if completed by the deadline in the Academic Calendar. See Late or Retroactive Withdrawal section below for option to withdraw after the deadline or from a prior term.
- Withdraw from a Future Term before the start of classes
- A Confirm Non Enrollment Status for a Future Term form, located in Withdraw from Current/Future Terms form, should be completed when students have no registration.
- Registration is removed if present.
- Tuition is removed if charged.
- Other Details
- When the form is successfully submitted and processed, confirmation emails will be sent to your App State email account.
- Review the readmission policy that may be required upon returning to the university.

Late or Retroactive Withdrawal
- Full term Withdrawal after the Deadline/for Prior Term with Extenuating Circumstances:
Review the policy and process for Late or Retroactive Withdrawal due to extenuating circumstances if you miss the official withdrawal period or wish to withdraw from a prior term. - Partial or Single Course Withdrawal after the Deadline for Non-Medical Reasons:
Serious and compelling extenuating, late or retroactive course withdrawals, which are not medical in nature, require documentation from the student and approval from the appropriate dean's office. Military deployment, Jury/Court required attendance, Administrative Error and death or serious illness of an immediate family member during the semester are the valid reasons. Students who fit this criteria should reach out to the dean's office of the appropriate college for the course they wish to withdraw from. - Partial or Single Course Withdrawal after the Deadline for Medical Reasons:
Late or retroactive course withdrawals, which are Medical in nature, are reviewed and approved by the Office of Health Services.
